Moving!

Birthday Weekend

This is just a quick note to let you all know that we’re in the thick of moving across town to an old 1909 apartment building in probably the most dense area of Portland, which we are very happy about. However, we have a lot to do in the next week and a half to make that happen, so I may be fairly absent here until then. For instance, we spent much of the day today purging things, and then taking them to Goodwill.

Off to Goodwill

Off to Goodwill

We ended up with a really great deal on moving, as the new building is our same rental company, so we don’t have any move-in fees, application fees, deposits for the cats, etc – so we decided to take some of that money and hire a moving company, as we’ll be up a few floors, and hauling all our furniture up sounded extremely un-appealing. So, there won’t be any exciting bike move posts to follow, but we’ll be sure to post about our new part of town as we get settled in. We will be literally next-door to a grocery store, 3 blocks away from maybe the best food market in Portland, kitty-corner across the street from an amazing bakery, wine/beer bar and coffee shop in our building…. you get the picture :)

New Home

Hope you all are well, and we’ll see you more on the other side of the move. Cheers!

Do I sense a bike move in your future?!? It would be a lot of fun and I’d be happy to help out assuming schedules worked out.

Best of luck with the move, and congrats on the new digs!

      Hey Will,

We actually hired movers – since we’re not paying all the move-in fees, we decided to just bite it and get it over with as quickly as possible :)

I have to say, I was a little bummed that this all is happening so fast as it would have been so fun to do a bike move for at least most of our things. That being said… if anyone is free thursday the 5th, i do plan to move clothes and small boxes and wouldn’t oppose any help. I’ll probably have the use of a small truck that day as well, but if you are bored and want something to do… ;D

Sounds lovely. Always an exciting time to move close to comfortable, cool places!

Yeah, we’re excited about it, I think we’re going to really enjoy the area.

NW Portland is a great area. I have a hunch you may end up biking a bit less just because everything is so convenient to walk to!

I think this is entirely possible – 3 blocks to groceries, across the street to a bakery, etc. Almost too much hassle to unlock the bikes :)

So at the new place you will have to keep the bikes locked outside all the time? Smart idea to hire movers. Good luck.

We probably will have to keep the bikes locked outside, but we do that currently as well. So far we haven’t had anyone mess with them, and they’ve been staying outside 24/7 for about the last year. Hopefully we can continue that trend :)
