Laundry Day

Laundry Day.

Well, seeing as we love dragging our dirty laundry out in public here in America, we thought it only fitting to join in :)

We decided the other day that we wanted to just take all our laundry to the laundromat and finish it off in one fell swoop, so we stuffed my panniers, and strapped our laundry basket to my front rack, and off we went.

Thankfully for us, the laundromat is on a corner, next to a Cuban restaurant, kitty corner to a chocolatier, and across the street from a mini-mart, so there are plenty of options when you have to sit there a while.

Last time we had sandwiches at the Cuban restaurant while our clothes were washing, then my wife ran over and got chocolates while they were drying. This time, we just ended up with some Wheat Thins and string cheese from the mini-mart, and a root beer :)

It felt really nice to get all of that done, and once again, glad to have bikes that enable us to do stuff like this. What would be a long walk, hauling all that laundry, becomes a short ride with the bike doing all the work. They really are incredibly useful tools.

This is awesome. I love that laundromat! Never used it, but it always strikes me as quaint and nostalgic when I pass it on my evening commute home!

Yeah, it’s a really nice, clean place, the washers/dryers work well, and so far we’ve only had good experiences there. Plus it’s about a 3 minute ride from our apartment, and as I mentioned, quite nicely located in terms of food :)

Okay, I’m a big foodie, so I’ll bite…  Pambiche?  I must know the name of the Cuban restaurant

           That’s the one :)

I just absolutely LOVE that enormous laundry basket! I wouldn’t be able to see where I was going if I tried to carry something like that up front. :)

It actually didn’t stick up as much as it seems – I was worried about that too, but it didn’t block my view at all. Got some good looks though :)

And isn’t it fun to get looks! We attempted lunch there with the kiddos before we had moved to the area; I remember the sad attempt and how good the food was in between “What are you doing?!?” and “Don’t do that!” Now I pack lunch when we go to Oregon Park.

Oh yeah, the food is great. I love Oregon Park too, it’s nice in the summer that it’s so shady, and you can just go hang out on the swings or have a picnic. One place nearby that does seem to be pretty kid-friendly is Bakery Bar, on Glisan just a couple blocks East of Pambiche. Great brunch spot.

Oh, yum. I’m drooling over the website. Wonder if I could control that in person? Can’t wait to try! Thanks for the recommendation.

Get the cinnamon maple pecan scone. You won’t regret it.
