Meandering around aimlessly on my bicycle some time ago, I found this little tiny street that had a nice surprise at the end of it.
The wall of a building painted with portraits and quotes from various authors.

“We are all in the gutter, but some of us are looking at the stars.” -Oscar Wilde

“The silence drew off, baring the pebbles and shells and all the tatty wreckage of my life. Then it gathered itself, and in one sweeping tide rushed me to sleep.” -Sylvia Plath

“Out of all the conflicts and the curses, the blows and the anger, the tension and the terror, I had somehow gotten the idea that life could be different, could be lived in a fuller and richer manner.” -Richard Wright
“The beauty of the world has two edges, one of laughter, one of anguish, cutting the heart asunder.” -Virginia Woolf

“Men reject their prophets and slay them, but they love their martyrs and honor those whom they have slain.” -Fyodor Dostoyevsky
One of the things I appreciate about traveling slowly – I don’t feel as bothered stopping for a few minutes to take photos of something interesting I run across, since I’m already not in a hurry.
Hope you’re all having a nice Autumn so far – it’s been mostly beautiful here in Portland. Sunny and cool or cold and foggy, but not a lot of rain yet, which is kind of nice; I’m sure we’ll get our share yet :)
