Moving Stuff by Bicycle

Yesterday after work, I met up with our friend Logan, to help him move some of the remaining bits of he and his wife Tammy’s stuff from their apartment into their brand new Tiny House!

We loaded up our two bikes, my Raleigh and his Surly Long Haul Trucker, and headed out the 6.5 miles or so to their new place.

It’s a beautiful little house, and I can’t wait to spend more time there. It was great chatting with Logan on the way over, as we haven’t seen each other in a while, and except for the one woman talking on her mobile phone who almost turned right straight through a green-painted bike box directly into me with loads of stuff strapped to my bike, it was a really pleasant ride, nice weather, and a very pleasant way to wind down after work.

We arrived with all the stuff, no problems, and I sat down and had a beer and some snacks with Logan and Tammy and the kittens before heading back home again.

Best of luck to Logan and Tammy getting settled in their new digs!

Thanks again Dave! It was great to see you! Can’t wait to have you and Trina over for dinner, or at least Tea!

    Also thanks Dev! :)

    Cheers,
    Logan.

Dave, that “Tiny House” is that thing on the trailer in the first picture?  Is that a fancy storage shed, or a mini-place to live?  More info, please :-)
These days I’m moving rain water from my workplace home and back.  Hopefully this is the last day of raining.

The tiny house is indeed that thing on the trailer in the first photo. Click on the photo to go to Logan and Tammy’s blog, where they have a lot more information about it. It’s been a dream of theirs for a while now, and it’s great to see it come to fruition, and turn out so well to boot!

I saw the title and the first photo and thought, “OK, this I gotta see.”

Hah! No, we didn’t move their tiny house by bicycle :) Though that would have made a really impressive post :)

How cool, tiny house + moving by bike. I’m looking forward to the first time I can pitch in on one of those moves with the bakfiets. Hubs & I would love to do the tiny house thing. Right now down-sizing to less than half the space for the second time in 4 years is as close to tiny as we can do with 2 little kids. Maybe that can be our version of an RV for retirement!

Yeah, I think as with most things in life, it’s about finding the balance that responsibly meets your own needs – not everyone can live in a 150 sq ft house, but you can find the range in which your need for space is fulfilled but not exceeded.

This is the first time I’ve helped someone move by bike as well – it helps that Tammy and Logan don’t have a lot of stuff to move, for sure (and of course I wasn’t involved in all of the moving, just bringing this one load over).

How cool! I love those tiny houses. We pondered those for awhile, but with 11 cats and pipe organ shop in our current tiny apartment, I don’t think we can really go smaller. :)

Goodness :) Yeah, sounds like you already have a pretty full home :)

Self-indulgent, hipster, attention-hoes. At least it will be easy to rob that place. In n out in 30 seconds.
