    Hi Dave,
This is a totally unrelated question, but when people ask you why you don’t wear a helmet or say you should wear a helmet, do you have a quick response that wraps up that topic quickly? A number of friends and acquaintances have brought the topic up recently. Honestly, I’m so tired of talking about it that I’m considering giving in to the peer pressure and wearing a helmet just so I don’t have to talk about it anymore.

So far I’ve had the best luck with something like, “Thanks for your input, I’ll consider it. [attempt to change the subject.]“

But I often seem to get roped into hearing about their / their wife’s / their best friend’s neighbor’s bike crash. And of course this anecdote “proves” that bike helmets improve safety, therefore I should wear a helmet, QED. (assuming that OF COURSE riding a bike slowly on low-traffic streets in Portland is a DANGEROUS activity and anything that improves safety in such a DANGEROUS activity must be done without fail).

Your wife’s bright orange shoes definitely enhance visibility.  Love them!
