I started Portlandize “way back” in 2008, after having just really started riding a bicycle for transportation around Portland. A lot has changed for me since then – we’ve moved to a different area of town, we’ve changed bikes, my wife has quit her job, we sold our car, seasons have changed, gardens have been grown and died, friends have come and gone, and I feel like I’m a different person, personally, than I was then… but here I am still plugging away.
I just found out last night that Portlandize was ranked in the Top 50 Most Influential Bicycle Blogs of 2011, at number 33. That was both surprising to me, and humbling. I really honestly write Portlandize mostly out of a felt need to communicate with people, and I don’t really have all that much of an agenda other than to share my experiences riding a bicycle with other people, so it kind of surprises me that I would be considered influential. It’s humbling, though, to know that you all think what I have to say is both interesting and important, and I really appreciate that.
Thank you all for reading, commenting, sharing this experience – and hopefully it will only get better from here!
Sincerely,
Dave
