Farmers Market, Breakfast, and Incidental World Cup

This morning, we were so happy to be able to sleep in, as we’ve both had a rough week sleep-wise, and we got up, snuggled the kitties a bit, I took a shower, and we headed out to the Hollywood District farmers market. Farmers markets are probably my very favorite tradition, as there are just so many smells and sounds and the food is so beautifully displayed in all the stands, and the food is so good. Today we got some produce for a couple of meals this week, and the first cherries of the season! Hooray!

A happy couple

Note Omafiets in the picture below with the spotted panniers – we saw her ride by us a few minutes later with a whole flat of strawberries on her front rack :)

We headed home to drop off our spoils, including a library book we picked up on the way home, and then headed over to our favorite weekend brunch place nearby, the Bakery Bar.

When we got there, we realized they were showing the Denmark vs. Cameroon match, so we decided to sit inside and watch – we got there just after the start of the second half. We got to see the 2nd goal by Denmark, clinching them the match, and several valiant efforts by Cameroon to tie it up, all in vain.

Now this afternoon, we just made a big batch of salsa, and we’re off to a barbeque for a friend’s birthday. Happy weekend everyone!

Gah! I forgot to go to the farmer's market today! Cherries. I want them!

Lovely report, and that bike shelter is nice, isn't it?

It's nice to catch a little World Cup Soccer with breakfast and as a part of the day's travels.

This post is a perfect example of how simple, happy, biking days can be the best!

@emeraldsedai: yeah, those bike shelters are nice – there are several on SE Hawthorne as well.

@pkoonce: indeed, it is! now we're planning to go back next weekend on purpose to catch another match :)

@Dottie: simple, happy days are indeed fantastic. many of ours do in fact involve bikes as well, and all the better! :)
