Quick nip out for dessert

After making ourselves some massaman curry last night, we decided to nip out to a nearby restaurant (Screen Door) for some banana toffee pie with pecan shortbread crust (we crave it sometimes, what can I say…?). We were in the mood for being at home, so we made it a quick trip and got it to go. Upon leaving the house, it became apparent that a quick trip would be imperative, as there were doom clouds on the horizon, and the wind was building up.

Doom clouds

We went in, placed the order, paid for it, they brought out the pie, and we pedaled home as fast as we could to beat the light sprinkles we were beginning to feel.

The One I Love

About two minutes after we got home, the clouds caught up with us and everything was very wet, very quickly.

Rainy!

We made some coffee, poured some juice, and shared our piece of amazing pie on the couch by candlelight. It hasn’t stopped raining yet :)

Happy Friday Everyone!

That top photo, of the wonderful late-day light against the black clouds is fantastic! The last couple of days have had the most splendid moments of wild light, haven't they?

The pie sounds delicious. What a lovely evening.

After our recent visit with y'all I can say "that pie is definitely worth the risk of getting soaked!" ;)

    Cheers,
    Logan.

@Anne: Yeah, we have had some pretty crazy clouds this month. Definitely some ominous moments :)

@Logan: yes, yes it is :)

Beautiful photos , especially the first one … I could feel the intimidation of the threatening clouds/sky. The bright orange color of the buildings heightens this feeling in me. :)

@Anonymous: yeah, even though it would hardly be the end of the world to get rained on a little, it felt like kind of an adventure trying to hurry and get home to beat the clouds :)

I got the Crane bell you have! Sadly, I haven't had many chances to use it so I have to resort to ringing it when there is no one around.

@Herzog: well, it's still pretty satisfying to ring it when nobody is around :) you need to find a reason to ride in the rain too, so the bell will tarnish :)
